Ed brings over 25 years of life science experience gained through senior industry roles with an emphasis on medical devices and diagnostics. Prior to joining LEX Diagnostics Ed was COO of Klay Biotech, and before that he served as President/COO of Quotient Ltd where he led the development and realisation of the MosaiQ platform from concept to commercialisation. He also played a significant role with Quotient’s IPO on Nasdaq. Prior to Quotient, Ed held senior positions in operations in the UK, USA, and Ireland with Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a Master’s degree in Engineering Science, from University College Dublin.

Heather is a biologist and assay developer with a PhD in Genetics and cellular biology from Newcastle University. With 10 years’ experience in the development of IVD devices and technologies for infectious diseases such as Influenza, Malaria and Tuberculosis, Heather has experience from feasibility though to regulatory approval and product launch.

Tim is an applied physicist and engineer, with 12 years of experience in developing cutting edge technologies and leading multidisciplinary teams to bring them to market. He’s got hands-on experience with rapid thermocycling, next-generation sequencing, and a range of bio-molecule detection techniques. He has a PhD in Physics and Material Science from the University of Bristol which developed a novel sensing technique for saccharides, intended for early-stage prostate cancer detection.

Amaru is a mechanical engineer and co-inventor of the LEX thermal cycling technology. His specialism is designing complex, multi-physics devices to be suitable for manufacture and assembly. Amaru has developed products for highly regulated industries across medical, aerospace and automotive markets. He holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cambridge.

Chris held technical and marketing roles in the mobile telecoms industry before joining TTP as a consultant in 2008. He worked on business analysis projects for a number of their clients and led the commercial evaluation of the LEX technology as it emerged from TTP’s laboratories. He joined LEX Diagnostics when the decision was made to spin the company out as an independent venture. He has a degree in physics and PhD in materials science from Bristol and Oxford Universities.

Steven is an experienced quality systems professional with engineering and motor industry background. He has since worked in the Food, Defence, Scientific Instruments and Medical Device industries in Operations, Service and Quality roles gaining the Status of Chartered Quality Professional.

Jo brings over 15 years of experience in programme and project management in the medical device sector. She has successfully delivered complex product development initiatives at all stages of the product development lifecycle, from concept through to manufacturing transfer, regulatory approval and launch. Jo has a PhD in Biophysics from the University of Cambridge, where her research focused on developing novel DNA sensing technologies using optical tweezers and nanopore systems.

Elliott is a Lean Practitioner bringing over 20 years’ experience in process development and manufacturing. Prior to joining LEX he worked within the display and printing industries leading multi-disciplined teams readying and transferring prototypes processes to scale production. He holds a Master’s Degree in Material Science and Engineering from the University of Wales, Swansea and a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma.

Andrew is a diagnostics R&D scientist and leader with over 15 years’ experience developing and delivering regulated in vitro diagnostic assays across immunodiagnostics, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and point-of-care molecular diagnostics. He has hands-on experience in assay development, reagent chemistry, assay stabilisation and performance optimisation, with a strong focus on controlling biological variability and robustness. Andrew has led biology teams through feasibility, verification, stability and manufacturing transfer, ensuring assays translate reliably into routine use. He holds a PhD in Clinical Microbiology and an MSc in Biotechnology from Glasgow Caledonian University.
